Chest Pain

Chest pain  is among the most distressing pain for patients. The first cause that comes to mind for a patient complaining of chest pain is heart disease. However, 90% of chest pain is not related to the heart. If tests related to the heart are found to be normal, there's no need for the patient to be suspicious.

Pain in the chest muscles arising from rheumatic diseases are common. Additionally, impacts to the chest during traffic accidents can lead to the development of sensitive points in the chest muscles and cause severe pain. Similarly, after broken ribs heal, they can cause very intense pain similar to the feeling of being stabbed or electrocuted. The pain can be so intense that it makes it difficult for the patient to breathe.

Inflammations of the muscle that separates the abdomen and the chest cavity, namely the diaphragm, as well as inflammations of the membrane surrounding the lungs, known as the pleura, can also cause chest pain. Abdominal growths, gas, and pressure pushing upward can result in chest pain. Various diseases of the esophagus can also lead to chest pain. Inflammations of the lungs, pneumonia, and tuberculosis can result in chest pain, especially pain radiating to the side. Additionally, lung and esophagus cancers can cause severe pain, especially in advanced stages.
